Therapy for Personality and Dissociative Disorders at Vitality Counseling LCSW PC

Personality and dissociative disorders are often misunderstood. But at Vitality Counseling LCSW PC, we understand they stem from complex life experiences, often rooted in trauma. We offer compassionate, trauma-informed virtual therapy for clients navigating the challenges of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD), Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD), and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).

Our licensed therapists serve clients across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Maine, offering a safe, respectful space for healing, growth, and integration.

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

BPD is marked by emotional intensity, fear of abandonment, unstable relationships, and difficulty regulating mood or behavior.

Our approach to BPD therapy includes:

  • DBT skills: emotional regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance

  • Building a stable sense of self

  • Strengthening safe, secure interpersonal connections

We meet you where you are without judgment or shame and support you in building long-term emotional stability.

Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD)

OCPD involves perfectionism, rigidity, and a chronic need for control. You may struggle with letting go, delegating, or accepting imperfection even when it causes stress.

Therapy for OCPD focuses on:

  • Loosening cognitive rigidity

  • Reducing anxiety around order, rules, or performance

  • Cultivating emotional flexibility and self-compassion

We work to support both your structure and your softness.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)

NPD is often driven by deeply rooted insecurity and fear of inadequacy, masked by control or grandiosity.

Our NPD therapy helps you:

  • Explore core emotional wounds with care

  • Increase self-awareness and empathy

  • Foster healthier relationships and boundaries

We also support survivors of narcissistic abuse, helping them reclaim autonomy, identity, and emotional safety.

Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD)

HPD includes a strong desire for approval, emotional intensity, and relational dependency. You may feel unheard or invalidated, struggling with identity and emotional regulation.

Therapy supports you in:

  • Developing self-worth independent of external validation

  • Learning balanced emotional expression

  • Exploring deeper needs beneath surface-level distress

We create space for emotional healing without shame.

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)

DID is a complex dissociative disorder often rooted in early, chronic trauma. It involves the presence of two or more distinct identities or parts, each with its own pattern of thinking, feeling, and behaving.

In DID therapy, we offer:

  • A trauma-informed, non-pathologizing approach

  • Support with co-consciousness, internal communication, and safety

  • Work toward integration, cooperation, or harmony among parts based on your goals

We recognize DID as a brilliant, adaptive response to overwhelming trauma and honor the wisdom in your system.

You Are Not Broken — You Adapted to Survive

At Vitality Counseling, we believe that personality and dissociative disorders are not character flaws, but survival strategies formed through experience. With the right support, healing is possible.
